Fresh Squeezed: Target Market

jason - Posted on 14 July 2009

This is the second go around for the St. Louis band Target Market, and on the new album Up on the Moon they seem to have hit the stride. Combining indie pop with a little edge there is something comfortable, but still challenging about their sound. Swirling under their pop melodies and cheerful and jangly guitars is a sense of darkness. Yet, they mask it well and keep this album light enough to fill the dance floor and rock the backyard party. I suppose you could say it is purposeful party rock with an indie appeal.

With a label like Afternoon Records these St. Louis boys will get considerable Midwest attention, but AR is expanding their scope this Fall with releases by Sissy Wish and John Vanderslice. With AR expanding in to global territory this four-piece from St. Louis is bound to get some much deserved attention.

Target Marget will be touring all of August, and will land here in Chicago on August 7th. You can find detail on their myspace page.
