Fresh Squeezed: Music Go Music
Today, Mercury / Secretly Canadian release the debut album, Expressions, from LA's Music Go Music in the UK so I thought it would be the perfect to write about them. The album was released in the US back in October, and it is the perfect example of 70's influence psychedelic pop. The album contains three radio-ready singles and all three have been released, "Just Me", "Warm In The Shadows", and "Light of Love". The met be chance at a dinner party, but instantly clicked, and quickly recorded the nine-songs that would become this debut album. They originally just thought they would be playing them for friends, but some much bigger has happened. Gala Bell, Kamer Maza, and Torg will never be the same.
Band member, Kamer Maza wrote this about their sound in 2009. "Something must be said here about the music itself.(3) Music Go Music make pop music but, fortunately, the term means very little these days. What kind of pop music is it? Rock and Roll, Disco, Metal, Boogie, Trans-Hand, Psychedelic? How does it work?" It doesn't answer much, but it does bring up some great questions. What is pop? Well, each band brings their own perspective, and Music Go Music approaches pop from a unique and entertaining angel.
