The Patrick Wensink Coloring Contest

Growing up there was nothing cooler or more exciting then going through the check out at the Grocery and finding being handed a page to color for a coloring contest. I would enter every contest I could find and spend hours perfecting the color combination and technique. Of all the contests that I entered I only won one of them, but that victory made it all worth it. I waited weeks that seemed like months for my prize to arrive, checking the mail daily. Finally, it arrived in small cardboard box with my name neatly printed on the label. I tore open the package and found a small plush penguin that changed colors when placed in water. I wish I still had that little guy...

Anyway, Patrick Wensick is not giving away plush, color changing, penguins, but he is giving away a small stack of autographed indie books. If you enter Patrick's color contest you will be eligible to win the follow books: AM/PM – By Amelia Gray, Fool- By Christopher Moore, Tales Designed to Thrizzle – by Michael Kupperman, and Help! A Bear is Eating Me! – By Mykle Hansen. So why is Patrick doing this, you ask? Well, he believes (and I agree) that a coloring contest is the best (and most interesting) way to promote his new book, Sex Dungeon for Sale! (Eraserhead Press). He had a series of illustrations created based on some of the book’s stories, including a Kindergartener who thinks he’s French, a puddle of ketchup shaped like Elvis and something called, “Chicken Soup for the Kidnapper’s Soul.”

The contest ends December 14, and you can visit Patrick for details on how to enter.
