Sweet Surrender - Group Show - March 6th to March 28th - Gallery 1988, San Francisco
The current show at Gallery 1988 (San Fran) runs through the 28th and features five extremely talented female artists. The title of the show is "Sweet Surrender", and through that theme the artists explore the female form in thought, in motion, in peril, and just in general. Camilla d'Errico explores the interaction between woman and nature, Krista Huot takes a modern look at a classic fairytale, Jennifer Tong explores a factory the manufactures women, Allison Torneros (pictured above) brings to life the inner thoughts of her beautiful subjects, and Mia delves into a world of witchcraft. It is a truly stunning display of beauty from every angle.

Pull The Moon - Laura Fayer - Thomas Robertello Gallery - April 7th to June 13th (Chicago)
Laura Fayer is an abstract painter from New York, but next month she will bring her latest collection here to Chicago. Using primarily acrylic paint and rice paper on canvas, Fayer is able to capture confetti, stop motion, and express a world through a series of mark. In abstract painting each mark, each stroke has equal power, and this series holds back its power in its near minimalism. Fayer is able to express all that she contains with less, but still allows color and movement to fill her work. Fayer’s work has been exhibited recently in New York, Denver, Boston, and Washington, DC. She attended artist residencies at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Yaddo, and MacDowell Colony, and received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Fayer received an MFA from Hunter College in 2006 and a BA from Harvard University in Visual and Environmental Studies.
