PH Madore Contest

PH Madore is an interesting fellow, and the more I interact with him and read his blog the more I am beginning to understand that he is just as passionate about the independent lit as the next shut-in pounding away at a keyboard. This week he launched an a unique contest with the grand prize being a copy of Light Boxes by Shanes Jones (Time Out Chicago's Review). The rest of this post is my entry into the contest, but you can read all of the details here and then make your entry as well.

This is a contest for a copy of Shane Jones’ Light Boxes (see also, UL Listing). The rules are simple. The duration is at this time unknown. When I feel the right amount of exposure has been achieved for my money, I’ll announce the winner and ask them for their mailing address, and Adam Robinson will mail the copy.

Yes, exposure is the goal here. So the winner of the contest will be the person who posts about this contest in the most places — forums, personal blogs (limit one per entrant–if you have five blogs, only one counts), shared blogs, friends’ blogs, comments sections, New York Times advertisements, wherever. To make an entry, first copy at least 50% of this text, including a link to these contest rules, and make posts elsewhere. A post in the comments section of MADOREABLE is not eligible for submission. Once you’ve made your post elsewhere, note it here in the comments, making sure to use the same name each time you post an entry, because multiple entries are acceptable, and multiple entries within a single comment are also acceptable.

This may be the first contest of its kind, I don’t know. I do know that the recent events unfolding around the book feel important to me, and I would like to do my part in supporting the further growth of Publishing Genius, and not just because Adam Robinson will be publishing a short collection by me later this year in the PDF chapbook series.

The worst thing that could happen here is that no one participates. I won’t take much offense to it, but I will see it as a f**k-you to PG and Shane Jones. That is, unless you’ve already bought it, or have intentions to buy it, etc. It’s a small amount of work for a monumentally good book–and you’ll get it 100% free of charge, just by spreading the word about this contest, which increases the competition, etc. This is partially an experiment to see how vast the literary world is, you know? What new forums, blogs, magazines, and so on will I discover as a result of this contest?

I’m hoping a ton.
