Fresh Squeezed: Princeton
A couple of years ago Jesse Kivel was working in public relations for a great pr firm called Force Field, and managed to leak a couple of demos from his band called Princeton. The sound was remarkably fresh and interesting, a little Balkan Calypso, a little indie pop, and a touch of something all their own. The few songs that I received stuck with me, and remain in my rotation to this day. The band is twin brothers Jesse & Matt Kivel, Ben Usen and David Kitz, and they have spent the last two years constructing their debut album, Cocoon of Love. As the title suggests the album takes a look at the various elements of love, but if that does sound appealing their sound can still fill your Fall. Although it has progressed a bit since their demos, they still have a charm and solid undercurrent of indie pop.
