Fresh Squeezed: Hallelujah the Hills
On September 22nd, Misra Records will release the second album from Boston's Hallelujah the Hills. What is unique about this six piece group (David Bentley - cello, guitar, Elio DeLuca - keys, guitar, samples, Matthew Glover - drums, Brian Rutledge - horns & moog, Ryan Walsh - geetar, sing and Nicholas Ward - bass) is the way merge creative writing and complex instrumentation. Colonial Drones finds Ryan Walsh in top form lyrically, but also in the amount of support he receives musically. These are thoughtful pieces of Americana soul, but there are just enough moments of expirimentation to keep this album interesting. With trumpet, trombone, moog, cello, and more, this group has a variety of styles and sounds.
Hallelujah The Hills is planning a full tour in support of their new album this fall. While you wait for the release in September you can download the ep they released last year, Prepare To Qualify for free.
"Wave Backwards" is from the self-titled debut also on Mirsa Records.
