Fresh Squeezed: Deastro
In the last ten years Ghostly International has released a variety of sounds but is mostly known for raising the bar in electronic music. Their latest release, Moondagger (out June 23rd), has electronic elements, but when filtered through the mind and experience of Detroit's Randolph Chabot the result is something completely different. When Randolph enters the world of Deastro he finds a sound that is grand but pop-filled, rhythmic and electronic but can still be broken down to folk level. Perhaps it is the addition of the of a full-band, Chabot's previous releases were mostly solo efforts. The band ads a fullness to his sound and gives this album a more cinematic feel.
What are most impressive are Chabot's lyrics that are heavy with mythology, superheroes, aliens, lost souls, and star-crossed lover, and so much more.
